Ten years of hard training, broken ties, and no contact with the outside world.  A fantasy for someone who has nothing to lose.  I had already made up my mind to go by the time Alpha Waldo carefully planned his perfect proposal.  He didn't know it, but every time he murmured a lie or didn't come home at night, I was quietly getting ready to go.

He must have seen that I was becoming less interested, because one night, when he was working late, he finally asked, "Why don't you get mad anymore?"  You don't love me anymore, do you?

I didn't say anything.  What could I say?  That my wolf and I had stopped howling at him?  Instead, Alanna's voice note rang on his phone.  I already miss you, Waldo!  Don't forget to bring my favorite wine tomorrow night!

And just like that, my wolf growled in agreement.  It was time to go.  I called quietly to confirm my participation in the decade-long Special Forces Project for The Shadowcrown Pack.
